Summer Breezes……

Well...Summer is fading fast! Is that really possible? Wasn't it just Memorial Day? I'm sure it was...…..But the calendar is saying that Summer is quickly "Leaving the Station...." so I guess I must not have gotten the memo..... Although there have been many changes here in the past year, there are many things that have stayed the same..... The sound of the tractor, the smell of freshly mowed lawn, the deer eating all my tulips....then like clockwork the leaves on the Birches up on the ridge go from gold and yellow to being taken in one blow of an October wind to being bare and … [Read more...]

Autumn Farewells

Autumn on the mountain brings with it a sense of change on all fronts, it also brings farewells.....some are easier to deal with than others.... The  leaves fall and the trees seem to become bare almost over night, delicious aromas both inside and out, a color palate that only Mother Nature could conger up. The lake is ablaze in color, as if someone came along with a brush and didn't miss a stroke. This is also a  time to replenish the firewood, fill the clothesline with flannel sheets and watch the colorful quilts bow to the gusts of October winds that are slowly … [Read more...]

"........... It doesn’t get much better than a crisp autumn day, and yes my favorite color is October……"  Summer has finally bowed to Mother Nature, relinquishing its hold on sandy towels, ocean scented breezes and flip flops. Balmy nights at county fairs and rides on the Ferris wheel are now a “Remember when” comment…..the wilted flowers whose colors were bleached away by the never ending sun, until they were mere shadows of their original selves. The Hummingbirds sipping nectar from the “All you can drink bar” set up on the kitchen window.  Clotheslines heavy with whites and pastels, … [Read more...]

Waiting for Autumn……..

Hello everyone! PineRidge Hills took the summer off but we are back and in full swing, ready to take long walks along the lake and gather crimson and gold oak leaves and acorns.  The crackling of a campfire,  the sounds of giggling children and the warmth of a wool blanket....all true signs that we are waiting for Autumn..... And yes it is slowly coming up the mountain..... The cool, brisk air with the sweet smell of freshly mowed grass and the Marigold's taking their last bow, and the squirrels hiding their winter's dinner are all activities that I just rejoice in......As you can tell … [Read more...]

Easter Comes Up The Mountain….

Easter comes up the mountain, and hitched to its weathered wagon is Spring! Even the birds are lining up along the road, on top of the telephone lines as if waiting for the parade to start.... Although we had a mild winter here in Northern Pennsylvania, I am glad to see it leave......the daffodils' and crocus are starting to peek through the dirt and soak up the sunshine........The tulips I planted two years ago have tripled, so I am patiently waiting for the burst of color that will adorn the rim of the deck..... Inside PineRidge Hills, Spring is starting to bloom … [Read more...]

A New Creative Room…..

Would you believe I've been sailing thru the Caribbean for the last couple of weeks? How about skiing in Vail? Lunching with Ina in the Hamptons? No? How about clearing out the old office to make my very own "New Creative Room"? well, then you would be right!!! Finally, everything in one more trips up to my oversized closet that was doing double duty as a sewing room.... now, that we really don't need the "Home Office" any longer, it can be re-purposed!  Although its not quite finished - it is functional - which is fine with me...... I took an old piece that was … [Read more...]

What if you woke up today….

……What if you woke up today with only what you thanked God for yesterday?................. I saw those words this morning in an email a friend sent me, it was 5:45 am and my husband had just left for work.  I was finishing my cup of tea and last nights crossword puzzle while going through my emails...... .........something to really think about..... but first I have to get the laundry started and marinade the roast for supper tonight.  I have ironing to do and the vacuum is screaming my name in five languages..... .........but after that I'm going to give this some … [Read more...]

Mountain Days….

Well, I think it's safe to say that Ol' Man Winter finally woke up and found his way to Pennsylvania, So when he came knocking I simply let him to visit for a spell, and share my mountain day.....I served him a new Earl Grey tea that I received for Christmas from the Divine Ms. B, and as a thank you  he let it rain instead of giving us snow on today will be a different story - pour yourself a cup of tea and visit for awhile and I'll share what I've been up to.... But back to my tea......the Divine Ms. B knows my love of Earl grey Tea, so she gave me a gift of a new one...and … [Read more...]
