October Bookclub Brunch

Spooky, suspensful what will happen next?
Sounds like the chatter around the Bookclub Table at Pineridge Hills!

This month we decided to read “The Walk” by Lee Goldberg…..

…”Marty Slack, a TV network executive, crawls out from under his Mercedes, parked outside what once was a downtown Los Angeles warehouse, the location for a new TV show. Downtown LA is in ruins. The sky is thick with black smoke. His cell phone is dead. The freeways are rubble. The airport is demolished. Buildings lay across streets like fallen trees. It will be days before help can arrive……

………”Marty thinks he’s prepared. He’s wrong. Nothing can prepare him for this ordeal, a quest for his family and for his soul, a journey that will test the limits of his endurance and his humanity, a trek from the man he was to the man he can be … if he can survive The Walk……”

The table is set simply this month, and we are only three today! Hmmmmm, where is our fourth reader? I have a feeling she is already tucked away in the wing chair nestled by the fireplace reading! John Henry (Pineridge Hills’s mascot – read about him here) did join us for today’s gathering, he just loves gossip!…..
I placed a few of my handmade pumpkins in the bowls. The girls took them home and sat them on their mantles among all the little witches & goblins…..

I decided our lunch needed to be simple and safe, after all it is Halloween! No new tricks for this girl!

Here is today’s Menu:
“Double Tomato Soup”
Cauliflower & Carmelized Onion Tart
Sweet Potato Balls
and our Bookclub Beverage – Cranberry Margaritas

The table is set in classic Orange & Black….and as usual we end up doing more gossiping and laughing than anything else…..before you know it the sun has gone down and the sky is turning an eerie gray…..Have no fear Ladies! My window goblins will watch over you until your safely in your cars…..

  1. I think that trip to the stone couch did not scare you one bit. What is scary is where you could possibly hide all your seasonal and holiday dishes. I think there may be some hollow walls in your home. Best be careful that is where the ghost and goblins like to hide.
Love the new kitchen table. Your live in ever present angel really takes good care of you

    • Lol! I’ll never tell….but you gave me an idea – all that space behind the walls! I feel a trip to Lowe’s this week! “Oh, Al……..”
