Welcome to Pennsylvania Roads….

This week I want to share with you all that my beautiful state of Pennsylvania has to offer....... www.water-technology.net Most people think of the Keystone State as vast farming communities, mountains and country roads.  And yes we do have some of the most beautiful scenery our country has.  Ok, I am a little partial!  But Pennsylvania has so much more to offer and to experience than just trails and mountains. So come along with me this week as I take you on the "not so traveled Pennsylvania Roads" along with its traditions, local art, unbelievable sights, beautiful cities, little … [Read more...]

Legend of the Stone Couch…

".......The site is peculiar in its plainness. A flat stretch atop the mountain. No houses, no buildings. Nothing but woods. So very nondescript. So unassuming and not to be noticed. Except for a monolith of mystery. It rests there alongside the road, appearing, at first, to be a large rock. A second glance identifies it as a piece of furniture, a sofa made of stone. But this is one piece of furniture you don't want inside your house. Everybody knows about it. They call it the Curse of the Stone Couch, a phenomenon north of Weatherly surrounded by nothingness and yet charged with … [Read more...]

Happy Autumn!!

Dear Friends, Yes, I know that my blog has been woefully out of date, with no news for a very long time. I have been up to my eyeballs lately, and somehow I never seemed to sit down long enough to write. Where to start? Well, at the beginning of the summer, I actually convinced “The Love of My Life”, that it was time to start some renovations on this house……it had been over seven years since we painted, and the updates we always talked about but never acted on were calling our names – actually screaming at us! Now, mind you, tackling this whole house at the same time is no small feat! … [Read more...]

Gifts anyone?

So what do you do when a gift you gave to someone ends up on their table at a garage sale?........ Do you point it out to your friend or just move on to the housewares she is selling?...... (Like she would know what a salad spinner is!) Do you immediately think back to that long shopping day when you lovingly picked out that gift? all the time spent on where she would place it? how it would majestically sit on the buffet at Christmas dinner? how guests would all try to steal that lovely gift you, her dearest and closest friend( Well maybe not that close) bestowed upon … [Read more...]

Here comes the sun!

Soooo, I'm back! And there are so many projects on the dining room table that I had to number them! LOL! the rain is gone - the sun is out - the boys are out sunning on the deck and I do believe Elvis is trying to get his brothers into a game of soccer....Their audience are the Gold finches, two Cowbirds and three rabbits......all the "PineRidge Hills Ladies" were here today...the feathered and the furry ones! and Mr. Bradford the Bear hit our bird feeder - again! My husband, the genius, has just forged a new iron piece to fit on top of the eight foot pole he made last summer that holds … [Read more...]

Pennsylvania’s Own…

Recently, while attending a dinner party in New Jersey, I was introduced to a young man who,  upon learning where I lived,  commented "Wow, Pennsylvania!.....how can you live so far from civilization? Must take an effort just to get up in the morning!" LOLOL........                                                        I thought for a moment and then answered..... "Well, I guess it does take some effort in having to live with untouched beauty, clean air, vista's so beautiful it takes your breath away, country roads lined with wild flowers and weathered fences that lovingly hold back … [Read more...]

John Henry of Tenbury Square..

Have I ever told you the story of John Henry of Tenbury Square and how he became part of our family? No?
