The Book Corner at Pineridge Hills

Bookshelves. Books, books and more books! Did I mention I love books? Lol! I think its the writer in me. I have always loved books since I can remember. When I got one for a birthday or even one hiding under the Christmas tree I was thrilled. So needless to say I have always had bookshelves in my home. When my daughters were little, my husband and I invested in a set of Britannica encyclopedia's. You remember them, don't you? that's what we used before Wikipedia online came about! I paid $14.00 a month back in 1975. I donated them to our local library before we moved to PineRidge Hills. I … [Read more...]

Office/Sewing Room Redo

We are finally getting there! the office is livable again.  My husband, the saint, has been busy.  I need a few small details and we can cross this off our "Honey-Do List"....It turned out better than I had hoped.  I love the colors and now just need drapes and a few pictures on the walls.  My intention is to bring my sewing room downstairs.  the light is so much nicer and the view of the front road and forest across the street is beautiful. I have an old oak cabinet that I am going to paint white and add small chunky legs to it.  It will go in the corner and hold my most of my sewing … [Read more...]

The Hutch…

I promised to share the end result of the new hutch..... I decided to display my collection of old Lenox plates I inherited many, many years ago.....they were specifically made for the warehouse in Trenton, New Jersey as they are marked "Special" on the back....which to me they are! I'm not sure if I will put them back in the kitchen hutch or leave them....I'm thinking of swapping them out for my Johnson Bros. Autumn In The Hall

My center hallway is  our version of a "Loading Dock"!  It is where shoes come off, packages go out, dogs run through, grandchildren play hide n' seek....It is also where our Formal Christmas Tree stands ready to greet everyone during the holidays....It is the one room we need in order to get to every other part of the house but is usually the one area that only gets dressed up for company! So I decided to dress it up, just a little before the tree goes up and the company comes rushing through.......just so it feels a bit special for no apparent reason.......even if its only for a week or … [Read more...]
