Autumn Revisited……

Autumn Revisited!....It's been two years since we launched PineRidge Hills......where did the time go? We have been through two Christmas', Easter Sundays', Summer BBQs', but this is our third Autumn so lets start our anniversary trip with our first season.   This is absolutely my most favorite time of year. The crisp air and vibrant colors, the wool blankets coupled with hot spiced tea.....the fireplace ablaze with the smell of hickory. Even my "Fur babies" love Autumn. They actually prance around when they see their sweaters coming out of the closet. This year, we have finally made a dent … [Read more...]

Never Forget……

Never forget our Fallen Heroes who, fourteen years ago today, went to war without ever knowing why..... my daughter survived and together we managed to find our way home that day...many did not.... I watched and felt the tremendous force with which the towers fell, not knowing if my daughter was safe. Two hours later, there she was at my office door....hurt but alive! Twelve hours later we made it back to New Jersey....the people I commuted with that morning, friends from my own town, did not come home with me that night. As we slowly pulled into each station, we saw all the cars that would … [Read more...]

Autumn Hutch…..

Well, Autumn has arrived here at PineRidge Hills, yes I know I kind of forced it to visit and stay awhile but I had enough of closed windows and not being able to walk on the deck for fear of frying my feet! I am definitely not a summer girl! So down came the boxes marked FALL. Are you like me? I love to open my Season's Boxes, its like finding a present on a shelf, even though I know what's in it, I'm still excited to see my old friends! So over the weekend I did my Autumn Hutch..... Then still with the autumn glow swirling around I added some to the mantle in the family … [Read more...]

Our good friends Brigid & Glen hosted a BBQ filled with great food, lots of laughter and BFF's.....and yes the Divine Ms. B was there! we had a wonderful time.....Then on Sunday, my husband and future son-in-law, Joey attended the Indy 500 at Pocono Raceway.....I got to spend the entire day doing what I enjoy...sewing and a quick DIY..... Country Style Afternoon Tea…..

I have been in love with "Tea Time" since I was a little girl growing up drinking tea the way other kids drank soda! Both grandmothers were Irish and English so afternoon tea was a normal event at Nan's house.....Although I married an Italian, who drinks Espresso in the afternoon, I still kept my "Tea Habits".....and keeping the tradition doesn't mean Afternoon Tea has to be over the top, as laid back as we are here in the country, my Country Style Afternoon Tea is simple but a tradition none the less.... Where did all this start? well Tea Time Magazine explains the origins of Afternoon … [Read more...]

Fridays on the mountain…

Fridays on the mountain are always a bit laid back,  after running all week its nice to just sit on the deck and welcome the start of the weekend.....some of my neighbors join me...... The bird feeders are at standing room only! I think we need to start taking reservations. A new family of deer have come to live here, we have six "Bambie's" running through the River Birches all day, what a comedy show! And of course there is the troop of turkeys that love what the Nuthatches and Wrens are dropping into the grass.... The crows are busy patrolling the ridge and are squawking up a … [Read more...]

Summer Book club Brunch

Summer is teetering on the edge of Autumn soon it will be forced to say good bye for another year, so lets really enjoy the few weeks we have left and cast ourselves into a New England setting in between the pages of our Summer Book Club Brunch choice " The Primal Place" by Robert Finch.... ".....This is a voyage of discovery, a personal odyssey into the nature of a single Cape Cod neighborhood. It is a rich portrait, beautifully drawn, of a landscape and a community whose essential character lies in their penetrating interface with the sea. But it is also an individual quest, a journey of … [Read more...]

Pennsylvania Roads…

So what new places did you visit this summer? My "Pennsylvania Roads" Summer Bucket List kind of fell to the wayside ..... all my good intentions kind of slipped into the 2015 "I'll do it next week" bucket list....and that bucket is now overflowing.....sigh....oh well there is always 2016!  Well, although I didn't get to Martha's Vineyard or the Biltmore in Ashville, I did get to enjoy what, for us here in Northeast Pennsylvania,  consider a  "Local" gem....so my Road led me to Jim Thorpe, our beautiful County seat and just a ten minute  ride up another mountain from PineRidge Hills! as a … [Read more...]
