Crossroads……..

Have  you ever planned a trip, one that you easily prepared for……

……Knew down to the penny how much money you would need, where you would stay and for how long…..The meals you would have, the sights you have had on your “Bucket-list” since you were a child that you now will be able to experience…..

how many days it would precisely take you to get there…….Everything planned down to the very moment you check off the last item on your list…….

………..And then there is a detour sign that forces you to take the road not only less traveled but somewhat less understood….

Thats where I’ve been for the last four months!

Life happens……You watch your children go through rough passes, detours you never saw coming but knowing in your heart they will make it to their destination a little wiser and a little more road worthy….News about friends that throw you into a skid and when you land in the soft shoulder you wonder how and why? Aging parents who have now become the child…..Decisions…which road to take….and do you take your loved ones with you? or travel alone……Life happens……

I sit in front of my laptop and want to share and yell and laugh and blog…..

…….Which gets me Thinking : What could I write about that people would be interested in?

Then a friend, Rue, whom I’ve never met, but hope to one day, wrote to me……..and made me laugh……

So friends I’m coming back to Blogland…..with no structure, no time limit and no expectations, just

“A day in the life of”……BUT I can tell you what I’m not going to be blogging about:

I’m not remodeling the house……it was just done two years ago…….and I still like it…..

I’m not putting in a huge, organic garden….I live on a mountain in Pennsylvania….Shale, Deer and Coyote….

I’m not buying new furniture, appliances or redoing the siding……there’s nothing wrong with what we have now……

I’m not taking any foreign trips……there certainly is enough beauty in my own neck of the woods…..

I’m not sharing  a new wardrobe, ridng boots, or new dinnerware……my Lenox and Walmarts Better Homes and Gardens dishes will have to do for my tablescapes, and my wardrobe, although improving, is not going to make Ralph Lauren stand up and take notice…

I’m not going to making monthly trips to HomeGoods……my Fabric trips will have to suffice…….

I’m not going to show you my pristine kitchen with all its perfectly matched decor and uncluttered counters…..the aroma of fresh baked cookies, Italian bread and chicken pot pie will have to do….

I’m also not going to share garden parties with finger sandwiches and Mimosas’…….The barnfires and BBQ’s I hope will win you over……

I also won’t be interviewing any celebs……I’m hoping you will find my friends and family and their wonderful real life stories will make you smile…..again…..

I won’t be showing new ideas in Country French, my house isn’t….I will share my beautiful quilt I bought in Lancaster that is now on my wall……

I don’t have Thoroughbreds trotting on the back forty…..we do have new neighbors – two cows, eight goats, six  baby lambs, more hens and roosters than I can count and of course my three little fur-babies…..

what I do want to share is laughter, good times, the Divine Ms. B,  the quilting madness we both have been exposed to and the adventures we’ve been on, the farm that has evolved behind us, great food along with all the hic-cups that life throws at us…and maybe a few surprises along the way…..after all road detours can sometimes bring you someplace you never knew you wanted to “visit….but so glad you did…..”

See you next week……

Country Hugs……
