Continuing from yesterday we are looking back at our first year of Pineridge Hills here on the mountain…..and its been a wonderful year, filled with new friends and a sharing of stories……..
Much has been done to our home here in Northeast Pennsylvania. PineRidge Hills has been mowed, painted, stained, planted and plowed over this past year, and its all GOOD……of course none of this would have been possible without the “Love of my life”….my husband Al the true MacGyver!
So lets continue down memory lane…or, maybe I should say deck…….Al and I are “Deck People”, love spending as much time on it as we can.
We finished the deck just in time for my surprise 60th Birthday Party last summer…….Now “Bradford the Bear” admires it from afar…..at least so far he has! Twice I spotted him attempting to pay a visit, but now for some reason, climbing the rail seems to be a daunting task for Bradford! even though it would just require a moderate jump! I so love my deck, as do the Boyz……now they can play and lounge in the sun whenever they please without mom worrying about them going off to explore!
So here is where we started….
And here is where we are most days….
Even the Winter didn’t take away the beauty of the Deck!
To further our enjoyment Al outwitted Bradford, the bear, who was pulling down our feeders and Petunia’s every night – no wonder he can’t get over the railing! He welded together his version of a Feeder Carousel….no more late night snacks for the bear.
We so enjoy the wild life that visit every day, right under the railing of the deck….no one can understand why our flowers, especially the 100 tulips I planted around the deck, have not been gobbled up by the deer….well you see, we have an understanding with them here on PineRidge Hills…..
I’m also lucky enough to see beautiful sunrises from my deck…..
The deck also stands in as the Official Westie vs. Yorkie Soccer Tournament….there rarely is a winner, especially when snack time rolls around…
With Autumn slowly coming up the mountain, I know Winter will be on its heels with its snow and nose-biting cold, but I also know that on any given morning I can look out across the deck and see a brilliance in the Birches…
And that is what makes my day…….
From my deck to yours,
