Decorating the “Empty Nester” house….

So spring is here, the snow is totally gone and the living room is done! So now, new sofa? new chair? Oh so many decisions! Now that we are “Empty Nesters” the house seems overwhelming…..and even more so now that we want to replace some furniture! My husband, the genius with tools, made me a beautiful hutch for the breakfast room, and now is planning to make a farmhouse table to match.  I plan to get black Windsor chairs to go with it.  Then I plan to do black and white buffalo check drapes on either side of the glass sliders and chair cushions to match.  I’ll probably make them…..or maybe go with a grey and white print…..But I think I want wing chairs at both ends of the table in a different pattern.  What do you think? I love these Windsor chairs with the high backs…by Ethan Allen…..but out of my budget.  So I’m on the hunt for a set of chairs I can redo myself…..Yard sales here I come!

Farmhouse Table I love….. “Oh, Hubby….just like this one, Please!”

Now, living rooms and bedrooms! ohhh, I just love the look of the following…..I am so happy I went with the grey because I can accent with so many colors, which is a lot cheaper than repainting! besides my husband said this is the last time he is painting this house….can’t blame him – its a big house! so I guess I better like the grey and white for a long time!
If I had to say what my favorite style is I guess I would describe it as Country French meets Farmhouse Traditional! Does that really exist? No? then let’s create it!
I found these following photo’s to add to my “Wish-Book”….what is it? well, since I was little I always had a Wish-Book.  I filled it with houses I would love to live in and places I wanted to visit, all the things I wanted to be when I grew up.  I remember being very little and seeing Peter Pan for the first time.  I so wanted to move into a tree and live with peter Pan! Then I moved on to Pollyanna! remember that Hayley Mills movie? I sooo loved her movies and that house with the porch! Then I moved on to Gidget and loved the house she lived in, at fourteen I announced to my parents I was moving to California and was going to live on a beach….in some ways I think I fulfilled all those dreams….My dad built a tree-house over looking the Delaware River, on our homestead in Pennsylvania when I was a kid so that made me feel like Peter Pan wasn’t far away, my summers in Virginia with my dad’s family was in a house very similar to Pollyannas’ and my husband and I raised our three daughters on the Jersey Shore…and now we live in a true “Tara” from gone with the wind! so you see dream houses do come true! lol! Now about the places I want to go…….hmmmm, that’s another story for another day!

So here is my “Furniture” vision…….
